Do you want to gain experience in creating iOS or Android apps? Are you interested in Medical Technology? How about winning monetary prizes while gaining recognition among your peers? Well then, sign up for Med AppJam!

Med AppJam is a 14 day long tournament where teams create a fully functional mobile app related to the medical field. Apps are judged on various criteria and the top teams teams are awarded prizes and recognition.

Each year, over 100 medical and information and computer science students come together to create over 20 medical apps. Naturally, we have partnered with the UC Irvine School of Medicine with the adoption of iPads through the iMedEd initiative, which is the basis of the nation’s first medical education program to completely adopt the iPad format for classroom and clinical skills training. We have also partnered again with Nursing Students in UCI’s Program in Nursing Science to further incorporate clinical needs and awareness for useful medical applications into this year’s Med AppJam.

“Developments in information technology are transforming virtually every industry,” said Hal Stern, the Ted and Janice Smith Family Foundation Dean of the Bren School. “It is exciting to see UC Irvine medical and computer science students work together to bring such changes to healthcare.”
